Practice Overview
Access Veterinary Care opened in 2018 with the mission to increase access to veterinary care, using a new-to-industry care delivery model and an open heart to reach more families. In August of 2026, we’ll be merging with My Pit Bull is Family and continuing to serve our community as a nonprofit organization! Our goal is to provide exceptional veterinary care in an approachable, affordable, accessible way. WE ARE PROUD TO REFLECT OUR COMMUNITY AND SERVE OUR NEIGHBORS!
We have a strong support staff to doctor ratio. Our support staff are highly skilled and constantly learning new skills, allowing for high utilization so our DVMs can focus on DVM-level tasks. This “team sport” approach allows us to support one another to the finish line!
Our current services include urgent care days, scheduled surgery days and a dedicated preventative care day. The clinic is currently open Monday – Saturday, with the hopes of opening up urgent care and surgery services on Sundays in the future. Our DVMs enjoy rotating set schedules for consistency, with flexibility to swap shifts with teammates to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited program is required
- Be licensed or able to be licensed in the state of Minnesota
- Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and continuous learning
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
- Strong communication skills
- Positive team player who motivates staff with encouragement
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years experience in an urgent care or emergency setting

Licensed Veterinary Technician

What we’re looking for:
Access Veterinary Care is seeking a veterinary technician who wants to practice in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are primarily an urgent care clinic providing affordable outpatient veterinary care, with strong opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
As a veterinary technician at Access Veterinary Care, you’ll play a central role in patient care by assisting veterinarians with sick and injured patients, running laboratory diagnostics, monitoring anesthesia for sedated procedures, assisting with surgery, performing dental radiographs and prophylaxis, communicating with clients, and carrying out treatments under veterinary supervision.
We’re looking for technicians who want greater autonomy in case management. The ideal candidate enjoys client education, direct patient care, and practicing to the full extent of their training. Experienced technicians will have opportunities to learn and display advanced technical skills, including placing skin sutures, applying bandages and splints, performing thoracocentesis, and more.
Main Job Duties:
- Patient Care: Provide hands-on care for urgent, routine, and surgical patients, including restraint, triage, physical assessments, diagnostics, treatments, medication administration, IV fluid therapy, CPR, and humane euthanasia under DVM supervision.
- Anesthesia & Surgery: Assist with routine and emergency surgeries; perform anesthesia monitoring, intubation, local anesthetic blocks, dental radiographs, and dental prophylaxis.
Diagnostics: Collect and properly handle laboratory samples; perform in-house diagnostics; prepare samples for referral laboratories; and obtain digital radiographs. - Client Education: Educate clients on nutrition, wellness, medications, anesthetic consent and discharge instructions, and chronic disease management while communicating clearly and compassionately as part of the veterinary team.
- Pharmacy: Maintain the in-house formulary, coordinate prescription refills, process online prescriptions, and accurately fill medications using the “Five Rights” of medication administration.
Preventative Care: Assist with preventative care and wellness services under the direct supervision of a DVM.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years working in veterinary medicine
- Licensed Veterinary Technician or eligible for licensure
- Excellent verbal communication skills

Veterinary Assistant

Through community medicine that prioritizes quality, efficiency, and flexible care options, we believe that we can help reduce the burden of medical care and help keep animals with their families.

We’re looking for veterinary assistants who are excited to be part of a collaborative team and passionate about helping us advance our mission. The ideal candidate enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is energized by the range of patient concerns that come through an urgent care setting. No two days look exactly the same, and we’re looking for people who enjoy learning, taking on new challenges, and growing with their team.
Job Duties:
- Perform treatments and medications under supervision of Veterinarian
- Assist Licensed Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians with procedures as directed
- Extensive communication with pet owners, such as taking patient histories, reviewing treatment plans, discussing estimates, and visit wrap-ups.
- Restrain dogs, cats and exotic pets for examinations
- Perform laboratory diagnostics using our extensive in-house laboratory
- Maintain a clean environment between patients, including cleaning equipment, exam rooms, surgery suite, treatment area, kennels, runs, and instruments
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in the vet med industry
- A commitment to low-stress handling
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and effectively with clients and team members.
Preferred:
- Animal handling experience
- Bi- or Multi-lingual (English/Spanish preferred)
- Self-starter
